Workshops in quilting don’t need to be just in traditional quilting. At Alan Teather Quilting we like to expand creativity in all forms of quilting and stitchwork. When you say quilting, people think of bedspreads and patchwork, but that’s not all that is available. We like to push the ability of our friends and guests at our workshops in a very laid-back and very happy way.
Workshop.
A recent workshop we did was based on Silhouettes. Whilst many people think of Silhouettes as black, against a light background, we were looking at alternatives.
As you see from this photograph, Christene made a dark, multi-hued, background from Bumbleberries and Allure fabrics. She chose a light fabric to act as a “silhouette,” again from Bumbleberries.
Silhouettes usually only utilise a dark fabric for the background and a lighter fabric for the foreground. In this photograph you can easily see the differing shades of fabric that have been used to a great effect.
