Price increases.
Cost of living.
As we are all too aware, the cost-of-living prices are increasing. It could be argued that the original worry of mass impending doom from the scaremongers has not taken place. Mass evictions, no fuel, babies crying in the street, etc. However, it is still hurting many millions of people including Alan and Amanda at ATQ. Money is tight.
We have only had one meal a day for over 2 years now. We put the gas on for 1 hour ONLY IN THE WINTER to “take the chill off the air”. The rest of the time we use quilts and more clothes. We have done this for many years as we remember scraping ice off the INSIDE of the windows. (People of a certain age will know what I am talking about).
Utility Direct Debits.
The big companies are charging excessive amounts on the DD. Challenge this every time. If they say they cannot reduce it by more than 10% speak to your bank. Furthermore, they are breaking the law on Direct Debits by charging more than is needed to cover your use.
Business.
Ordinarily, I find it absolutely abhorrent that companies increase the prices across the board regardless of the age of stock. Stock that particularly includes products they already have in stock and have paid for should NOT go up..
At Alan Teather Quilting we want to help you where we can with the cost of living. We will NEVER increase the prices of stock we have already paid for that is in our shop. We will also, try to minimise any new price rises that are passed on to us. Furthermore, it is Inevitable that prices will rise but we will stave off that for as long as possible. It is not the case that there is a massive profit that can be trimmed, far from it. Our business utilities are fixed price so we don’t need to fret about them too much.
Together
We are all in this together and we aim to support you in whatever way we can with price increases. In return, we hope and ask that you would help support us and other small traders. Being a small, independent trader is wonderful. If you are in the shop, you will see me. For orders online, it will be me who goes to the post office, several times a day to deliver your parcel. Likewise, if you email the shop, it will be Amanda who generally answers you. Emails telling you the tracking number of parcels sent out will be by Amanda. Amanda takes payment for orders paid for over the phone.
You don’t get that with bigger businesses where the CEO never actually takes the blame. If I mess up, I am the one responsible!
Likewise, on a macular level, with price increases especially, I am also more than willing to help you with your craft where I can. Please don’t be afraid to contact me and we will see how we can help. We have a network of traders that we can recommend. You are free to use our knowledge.
Charity quilts.
Some community-made quilts will be raffled throughout the year. The winner will choose the registered charity to receive the money The way we do that, we believe, is the only way in the country.
