sewing and quilting workshop

sewing and quilting workshops are offered in a friendly format that we are proud of. Our workshops are popular and everyone who attends has a good time. Not only finishing their projects for the workshop, they also create their own (patch) works of art as a result.

This first one was from a weekend workshop we did in 2022 where we made a heart quilt.

This is the quilt we made over the weekend.
The centre of this quilt is the one made at the weekend workshop, with a slightly different arrangement of the coloured squares. An outer border was added to make it a larger quilt.

Our lady’s daughter, who is not a sewer but likes to come and meet all the ladies in the sessions. She was also in attendance at the sewing and quilting workshop and she had her eye on this quilt.  Evidently, it was her 18th Birthday a couple of months after the workshop. Her mam (with our help) finished the quilt top off un beknown to her daughter. She then asked us to back it and longarm it, and she would do the binding.

Both are regulars and come to our sewing workshop sessions, during the week. Thus, it was very tricky to keep it a secret but we managed.

The quilt was finished and presented on the 18th Birthday.  Needless to say, she was over the moon and both mum and daughter cried when they saw the finished quilt.

The table runner grew.

Another lady, on our sewing and quilting workshops who had never quilted until she started our workshops, attended our Bargello Workshop. This was to learn how to make a Bargello table runner.  She was enthralled with it and enjoyed it so much she decided to add extra Bargello to make a quilt.  This is her very first quilt.  She did the quilt top and with our help chose fabric for the border and backing. We were asked to longarm it for her and she was over the moon with the finished result.

All the ladies in the group were really enthused and pleased at the results. When they saw the end result they have been inspired to do their own quilts. Since the first Bargello quilt was made, a second has emerged with a different direction to the bargello from our sewing and quilting workshop.
