In the world of quilting there are many of you who do it for a hobby and get massive enjoyment from it. There comes a time that you find you have a lot of work built up. Usually this has cost many, many hours of time, copious amounts of money and lots of blood, sweat and tears.
As a wide generalisation, sometimes people that are not in the quilting world see these works of art and ask how much they are to buy. The quilter who made it could be honest and say it has taken me 250 hours, cost £500 in material, I want £800 for it. This type of revelation usually meets with “how much!” I can get one of those in the Pound Shop etc. That type of comment can belittle the effort of the quilter and understandably upsets many of us quilters.
Of course, you can explain that 250 hours, even at minimum wage of £8.20, would cost £2050 in labour. Together with the £500 for materials you soon get to understand how under-priced and undervalued our work as quilters can be.
Therefore, with this in mind, this part of the website is going to be open to some realistic pricing. I will be putting my work up here, with a price tag, that I am unashamedly proud of. My work will be for sale.
I also want to use this part of the website to sell other people’s finished work. This will of course need to be through a contract and commission basis, which is to be finalised.
By the power of the internet, my site does get a lot of hits. The demographics say that there is a larger amount of disposable income available in the country as compared with Hartlepool.
If you are interested in placing your work here for me to sell on your behalf, then please contact us via telephone or email. Details are at the bottom of our home page.
