Terms and Conditions
At Alan Teather Quilting we are predominantly quilters who aim to provide you with a supremely friendly service and great products, whether it be purchasing online from our website, our premises, taking part in one of our drop in’s or workshops, or our long arm quilting service. As a relatively new business we are always open to, and positively encourage feedback on ways in which we can improve our service to you, and we read and discuss every form of feedback we receive. If required, we will respond to you in a timely manner of not more than 3 business days.
We also operate a review system on this website for customers who have made purchases to give us feedback. By making any purchase we assume that you are willing to receive follow-up emails asking for a review. If you don’t wish to receive these emails please let us know.
We reserve the right to alter, amend or change these terms and conditions, our privacy policy, or anything else we are responsible for. If so, the changes will take place immediately after they are placed on the website. Therefore, we request that you look at this page frequently and assume you agree with these Terms and Conditions.
At Alan Teather Quilting we make every effort possible to ensure ALL information is accurate and up to date. However, NO LIABILITY is accepted arising from reliance on information on these pages or any other information accessed on this website or ancillary services that we may use.

Ordering Fabric
Important information about our patchwork fabrics.
All Patchwork fabrics are 100% cotton from suppliers such as Moda, Michael Miller, Liberty’s of London, Dashwood, Makower, Andover, and many more reputable companies that specialise in Quilting fabrics. These fabrics have a nominal width of 42”-44” or 106- 114 cm unless we specifically mention a difference on our website. YOU CAN BE ASSURED that Alan Teather Quilting will never reboard fabrics or knowingly sell inferior quality fabrics as 100% cotton fabric for quilting.
Please use the colours on the website as a guide only. We do use the actual fabric swatches and jpeg files available to us from the suppliers but on odd occasions, this is not possible so we try to match the photographs on our site to the actual fabrics.
Some colours are notoriously difficult to reproduce due to computer colours and printing limitations, but we do our very best. Therefore, please use the computer images as a guideline only. If you need to return an item, please email us first to inform us with a brief description as to why you wish to return it to us. The item MUST be unused and in its original packaging. You will be responsible for all return costs unless the item is defective, damaged or incorrect on our part in which case we will refund all costs of the damaged item and the delivery cost for the item.
Orders of cut fabric cannot be returned unless it is faulty or damaged on receipt by you.
We truly hope you do not need to return any purchases but if you do please use a signed for delivery service as we cannot accept responsibility for items that are not delivered back to us. Please provide a daytime telephone number, email address and shipping address to;

We cut our fabrics by metric measurements. If you order a Fat Quarter from Alan Teather Quilting, then we will cut 50cm from the bolt of fabric. This will then be cut in half. This will generally give you a Fat Quarter that is bigger than the traditional American Fat Quarter. In general, it will be approximately 20” by 22” or 50cm x 55cm.
Pre-washing.
There is a wide discussion about prewashing fabrics before use. It is totally a personal choice. At Alan Teather Quilting we do unfold all fabrics then prewash these before we use them ON OUR OWN CREATIONS ONLY. We find this helps to reduce any possible uneven shrinkage when the final article comes to be washed. Different manufacturers of fabric use different production procedures so it stands to reason that if a quilter uses fabric from different makers then they may find a difference in shrinkage or dye compatibility with the final piece. For commissions that we make we always explain to the client the pros and cons of prewashing or not and they make the decision as to whether we pre-wash or not.
Also, as a guideline, we use basic washing rules for fabrics such as washing all light fabrics apart from dark fabrics. You could go a step further and wash light-coloured fabrics from the same manufacturer together if it is for that oh-so-special quilt. We preferably, use a phosphate-free detergent, (soap flakes) soak dark colours for up to 1.5 hours in cold water before machine washing. We use a low temperature and short spin cycle of 800 revs. For our creations, we tend to dry our fabric on a washing line rather than a tumble dry. After this, we always iron our fabrics before we use them.

We accept all major cards for purchases online and adhere to the latest security protocols issued by the relevant authorities. Shipping
We now ship worldwide. For the benefit of our website we have flat rate postage for outside of UK. If delivery costs are more than what we have quoted, we will contact you to see if you wish to pay the extra postage or cancel your order. For postage within the UK we have various rates of delivery charges. We can, for the moment, offer a free delivery service for orders £120.00 due to increased costs and the economic situation.
We do not and will never aim to make any money on postage. If we find cheaper methods of secure delivery, we will amend our delivery charges accordingly. If the postage paid on your order is more than necessary, we will refund a portion back to the card used. Indeed, if you know of cheaper methods of secure delivery then please let us know and we will check them out.
We do therefore reserve the right to contact you prior to sending out your order if the delivery cost is substantially greater than what is on our site. We hope we have covered all options in our delivery charges so this would only occur in exceptional circumstances such as huge orders of fabric or any heavy items we offer in the future.
We require a correct delivery address including a postcode to aid the delivery company. If a parcel is returned to us as not delivered due to a wrongly quoted address, then we reserve the right to charge you for a second delivery charge.

At Alan Teather Quilting we know how important quilting is to you. We will always endeavour to get your purchases on their way to you the same day as you place the order. Because we use Royal Mail as our preferred delivery company we must abide by their regulations. The main one for both us as a sender and you as a recipient are that Royal Mail will not entertain any claims for missing deliveries before 15 days have passed. If you do not receive your parcel in a timely manner, please do contact us to let us know but we cannot proceed with a claim on your behalf before 15 days have passed after which we will vigorously chase this to a positive outcome. We are aware of all the horror stories of delivery companies and as a business, we will complain on your behalf at any time.
Longarm Quilting Commissions
When we take in a quilt top to finish off on the longarm machine, we do everything we possibly can to ensure your happiness with the end product. We will always speak with you, talk you through the process, show you threads and patterns that you can choose from, advise on waddings/backings and answer any questions you may have. Because the patterns available are designed by other quilters for our machine, and not by Alan Teather Quilting, we do have to reserve the right that we are not responsible if the pattern has any flaws in it, only seen once it is committed to the fabric. There shouldn’t be any problems and Alan Teather Quilting will aim to mitigate issues during the quilting, should they arise, but our total liability will be negotiated but the absolute maximum liability will be £50.00. It is understood by Alan Teather Quilting that these Terms and Conditions have been read and agreed with before you submit your work to us.
We have seen periods of increased amounts of orders to deal with daily, so we have had to put into place the following.
Any orders received before 09.00 AM will go out, where humanly possible that same day. Any orders received AFTER 09.00 AM will go out the next working day.
For example, you place an order with Alan Teather Quilting at, say 03.30 AM in the morning on the 1st of February. We will pick that order up when we arrive at our shop at 09.00 on the 1st. It will be sent out that same day.
If you place an order at 2.30 PM on the 1st of February, then it will be sent out the next working day. I.E. the 2nd of February because we received the order after 09.00 AM.
As stated at the top of this we will endeavour to send all parcels out the same day because we know how your orders are special, but we must cover ourselves in the odd event there are delays.
We will also endeavour to send you a text message or email to let you know your parcel has been posted with tracking information where applicable. We reserve the right to email you via your order email address if we have special offers or discounts available that we think you might be interested in. IF YOU DO NOT WISH US TO DO THIS THEN YOU MUST EMAIL US AT INFO@ALANTEATHERQUILTING.COM AND WE WILL NEVER USE THIS EMAIL AGAIN.
To avoid any mistakes we would politely ask that you can sign up to our Mailchimp newsletter address to avoid any complications.
By making any interactions with Alan Teather Quilting you accept these Terms and Conditions.
