Once Upon a Time, there was a lady named Michelle who was attending an event in the building where we have our Unit.
During a break in the event, Michelle came over to see us and was enthused by what she saw and heard. She was really interested in our fabrics and one in particular.
She had some large cushions at home, measuring 80” x 80”, that she was wanting cushion covers for and the fabric she wanted was not one that we sell. It was, in fact, a fabric that Alan had designed and printed when he was at college. For those of you who may have visited us during the Tall Ships, it was on display in the window when we had the shop.
Alan had had numerous enquiries about selling this fabric and always refused because he was extremely proud of it and didn’t want to sell it.
However, once Michelle, who loves all things maritime & nautical, saw the fabric she was hooked. Somehow, she managed to persuade Alan to make 2 cushion cover fronts, using Alan’s fabric on the front, for her large 80” x 80” cushions.
These were then matched with fabric we had in stock to make the cushion backs.
She had previously bought a small 20” cushion from us, which was also a nautical theme of sailboats, that we had also previously made. She wanted another small one making with a co-ordinating fabric from the same collection, but this one had a lighthouse design.

Here is Alan looking sad before cutting his beloved fabric.!!
