- Kaya is another beginner sewer in the quilting world. Although Kaya can already sew, she is new to the quilting angle and the design element of what you can do with cutting fabric into bits then sewing them back together again.
- Our beginner’s quilting course is based over 7 weeks and each week of the first 6 the students makes a different block and on the 7th week everything is put together to form a wall hanging or lap quilt.
- The aim of our beginners course is to let people flourish and be comfortable in learning new skills. There is no formality, no pressure to complete and no time pressures. Kaya has finished all the 12” blocks that has been in the course so far and always leaving with a big smile on her face.
- The main premise of our course is, what you learn in week one, is reinforced in week two. Week two is reinforced in week three and so forth. For example, Kaya has made a block in wonky log cabin style in week 1. This enabled Kaya to become comfortable with using a rotary cutter and sewing in straight lines. Week 2 saw Kaya make a traditional Log Cabin design block, having taken inspiration from week 1. Week three will be a snowball block where Kaya will be designing the block and to fit in with the other blocks of 12”.
