Workshops are not only great for learning new techniques or making things they can also be a social hub.
Our fortnightly Saturday workshops are very popular and we have learned techniques such as , EPP, FPP, applique, bargello and more. We have also had a weekend course to make a quilt.
Saturday workshops run from approx. 11.00am (although our ladies are so keen they are usually here from 10am) until approx. 3.30pm – 4pm.
Coming up in October we have got a log cabin Christmas Tree wall hanging/lap quilt workshop and a layered applique cushion.
Although Katherine comes up with the ideas and runs the workshops, they are very informal. Everyone is at different stages of ability and Katherine encourages them to do what they can in a way that’s comfortable for them. It’s all about learning new things.
If the project is not finished on the day the ladies take them away and finish them themselves at home. Also, some come in during our weekday sewing groups held on Tuesday through to Friday 11.00am to 4pm A good example of this is the bargello table runner we made. Some of the ladies enjoyed the bargello so much that they went home and made a bargello quilt. Whatever is made the ladies are very keen and call in to see us with their finished project, which we love to see.
There is always lots of chatter and laughter which is what it’s all about, fun.
Some other workshops we have done are:
