Quilted Bedspread. It’s been a while since we shared projects that we’ve
done on the longarm. So here’s one to be getting on with.
We don’t just longarm patchwork quilts. As you can see, this is not quite
the usual type of item we receive. In fact, it is more of a bedspread which was
the intended product.
Fabric choice.
This lovely fabric, which is actually Sanderson Curtain fabric, was brought
to us by a lady who was making a bedspread for her newly decorated bedroom and
wanted it quilted.
After much discussion regarding which pattern and thread to use, she chose
the leaf pattern seen here. However, instead of the pattern running edge
to edge, she decided she would like it to run vertically. This was to
represent leaves growing upwards.
Attention to detail.
The quilted bedspread would go on her bed in a certain direction. So,
to achieve the desired effect with the pattern, we had to turn the fabric round
to load onto the longarm. As a result, the pattern was still quilted as an edge
to edge. After the quilt came off the machine and was the correct way up,
the leaves would be running vertically from top to bottom.
When the lady collected her bedspread, she was absolutely thrilled to
bits. She is going to finish it off with an edging and some
tassels. She also promised to send us a photograph of the finished
bedspread, and we can’t wait to see it.
