This photograph is rather innocuous in itself, but the substance of this photograph gave me the inspiration for this post and for a new quilt or piece of textile art.

 As you see, I have been cutting a lot of 4.5” squares for a quilt that is named my gentleman’s quilt. I reckon this quilt would be used by some of those older more dothery gentlemen in the “private” gentlemen’s clubs that you see all the great and powerful MEN in on the Television where they are sat talking to politicians and power brokers with blankets over their knees to keep them warm.

Well, I reckon this quilt, when its finished will be akin to the blankets but much more tasteful. My thoughts were that the colours and designs used in the quilt would be also used in the private clubs although I have never and will never want to be accepted into one of those so-called bastions of male power.

Anyway, that explained the scraps on the floor are only a sample of the bits from the whole amount of over 500 squares so, because I do not want to waste anything I kept them all and I will use them in a piece of textile art or for an edging on a future quilt.
